SEACAP Practitioners Meeting in Hanoi ; 12-13 th September 2007

 

The 2007 SEACAP Practitioners Meeting was held in the Melia Hotel in Hanoi on 12 th – 13 th September. In addition to participants from the current SEACAP project countries, Vietnam, Lao PDR and Cambodia, there were also delegates from Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Buthan, Nepal and Pakistan as well representatives from a number of Donors and NGOs.

 

 

 

The Lao Delegation was led by Mr Laokham Somphet who, in conjunction with Mr Sengdarith Kattignasack, presented a summary paper on the significance of the SECAP programmes in the development of the Lao. Rural transport infrastructure

 

 

 

Presentations were also made on current SEACAP projects and associated programmes Summaries of the three main SEACAP projects in Lao; were presented: as follows:

 

 

 

SEACAP 03 on the drafting of Low Volume Rural Road (LVRR) task-based Standards and Specifications; by Bounta Meksavanh (TRL-LTEC)

 

 

 

 

SEACAP 17 on the development, trialling and monitoring of a range of sustainable road surfaces that better use local resources in Lao PDR; by Dr Simon Gillet and Richard Wotton (Roughton-LTEC)

 

 

 

 

SEACAP 21 on Slope Stabilisation Trials on Routes Nos. 13(N) & 7 and associated training program for government personnel; by Tim Hunt (Scott Wilson- LCG)
