Roughly 50% of the Lao PDR is hilly-mountainous and with an annual precipitation of up to 3000mm falling mainly between May and September many roads are prone to landslides.
The project involves the identification of cost-effective community-based methods of improving the transport infrastructure through low-cost local resource-based engineering techniques to reduce/eliminate land-slips
There will be in addition an associated training program for government personnel and the production of a slope stabilisation manual in the national language.
