The development, trialling and monitoring of a range of sustainable road surfaces that better use local resources in Lao PDR and provide additional surfacing and paving options for a range of rural road environments that will be available for integration with Low Volume Rural Road Standards and Specifications into more cost-effective support for the GoL Rural Infrastructure Policy.

The project involved the construction of access roads to villages located in the area of National Road No. 3 Project in Houaxai District, Bokeo Province .

In addition to unsealed gravel control sections the roads included he following trialled options
